TAMILNADU INTEGRATED ELEPHANT CENSUS REPORT 2023: ஒருங்கிணைந்த யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு – 2023: கேரளா மற்றும் கர்நாடகா அரசின் வனத்துறை, டேராடூனில் உள்ள இந்திய வன விலங்குகள் நிறுவனம், மயிலாடுதுறை ஏ.என்.சி.கல்லூரி, பெங்களூருவில் உள்ள இந்திய அறிவியல் கழகம் ஆகியவற்றின் ஒத்துழைப்புடன் யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு தமிழ்நாடு அரசின் வனத்துறை சார்பில் கடந்த மே மாதம் 17-ந் தேதி முதல் 19-ந் தேதி வரை நடத்தப்பட்டது.

இந்த கணக்கெடுப்பு அறிக்கையை (2023) சென்னை தலைமை செயலகத்தில் முதல்-அமைச்சர் மு.க.ஸ்டாலின் வெளியிட்டார். இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் வனத்துறை அமைச்சர் டாக்டர் மதிவேந்தன், தலைமை செயலாளர் சிவ்தாஸ் மீனா, சுற்றுச்சூழல் காலநிலை மாற்றம், வனத்துறை கூடுதல் தலைமை செயலாளர் சுப்ரியா சாகு, தலைமை வன உயிரின காப்பாளர் ஸ்ரீனிவாச ரெட்டி, முதுமலை புலிகள் காப்பக இயக்குனர் வெங்கடேஷ் உள்பட அதிகாரிகள் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

TAMILNADU INTEGRATED ELEPHANT CENSUS REPORT 2023: ஒருங்கிணைந்த யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு – 2023: மத்திய அரசின் சுற்றுச்சூழல் மற்றும் வனத்துறை அமைச்சகத்தின் கீழ் உள்ள யானைகள் திட்ட இயக்குநரகத்தின் பரிந்துரையின்படி, யானைகளின் எண்ணிக்கையை நேரடி மற்றும் மறைமுக முறைகளை பயன்படுத்தி கணக்கிடுவதையும், தமிழ்நாட்டின் 26 வனக்கோட்டங்களில் தொகுதி கணக்கிடுதல் முறை மற்றும் நீர்நிலைகளுக்கு அருகில் நேரடியாக காணப்பட்ட யானைகளின் தரவுகளை அடிப்படையாக கொண்டு இந்த கணக்கெடுப்பு நடத்தப்பட்டது.
யானைகளின் இனத்தொகை கட்டமைப்பினை ஆராய்வதையும் முக்கிய நோக்கமாக கொண்டு நடைபெற்றது. ஒருங்கிணைந்த யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு அறிக்கையின்படி, 2017ம் ஆண்டில் 2,761 ஆக இருந்த யானைகளின் எண்ணிக்கை, தற்போது 2,961 ஆக அதிகரித்துள்ளது.
தமிழ்நாட்டின் 4 பிற யானைகள் காப்பகங்களுடன் ஒப்பிடும்போது நீலகிரி கிழக்கு தொடர்ச்சிமலை யானைகள் காப்பகமானது அதிக எண்ணிக்கையில், அதாவது 2,477 யானைகளை கொண்டுள்ளது.
இக்கணக்கெடுப்பின் மூலம் ஆண் யானையை விட பெண் யானை அதிகமாக (1:2.17 விகிதம்) உள்ளது. கிழக்கு தொடர்ச்சி மலைகளில் 1,105 யானைகளும், மேற்கு தொடர்ச்சி மலைகளில் 1,855 யானைகளும் உள்ளன.

TAMILNADU INTEGRATED ELEPHANT CENSUS REPORT 2023: ஒருங்கிணைந்த யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு – 2023: இந்த ஒருங்கிணைந்த யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பில் பல்வேறு யானை சரகங்களில் 1,731 துறைப்பணியாளர் மற்றும் 368 தன்னார்வலர்கள் என மொத்தம் 2 ஆயிரத்து 99 பேர் பணியில் ஈடுபடுத்தப்பட்டனர்.
3,496 சதுர கி.மீ பரப்பளவிலான 690 பிளாக்குகளில் இக்கணக்கெடுப்பு நடைபெற்றது. தமிழ்நாடு அரசு யானைகள் பாதுகாப்பு இயக்கத்தின் மூலமாக மேற்கொண்ட நடவடிக்கைகள் வாயிலாக தமிழ்நாட்டில் யானைகள் எண்ணிக்கை அதிகரித்துள்ளது.

The elephant survey was conducted by the Forest Department of the Tamil Nadu Government from May 17 to 19 in collaboration with the Kerala and Karnataka Government Forest Departments, the Indian Wildlife Institute in Dehradun, Mayiladuthurai ANC College, and the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru.
The survey report (2023) was released yesterday by Chief Minister M.K.Stalin at the Chief Secretariat, Chennai. Forest Minister Dr Mathiventhan, Chief Secretary Sivdas Meena, Environment Climate Change, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Supriya Saku, Chief Conservator Srinivasa Reddy, Director of Muthumalai Tiger Reserve Venkatesh attended the event.

TAMILNADU INTEGRATED ELEPHANT CENSUS REPORT 2023: ஒருங்கிணைந்த யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு – 2023: As per the recommendations of the Directorate of Elephants Program under the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the Union Government, the survey was conducted based on direct and indirect methods of enumeration of elephants, block enumeration method in 26 forest zones of Tamil Nadu and data of elephants directly observed near water bodies.
It was also conducted with the main objective of investigating the population structure of elephants. According to the Integrated Elephant Census report, the number of elephants has increased from 2,761 in 2017 to 2,961 at present.
Compared to 4 other elephant sanctuaries in Tamil Nadu, the Nilgiri Eastern Ghats Elephant Sanctuary has the largest number of elephants, i.e. 2,477. According to this census, female elephants outnumber male elephants (1:2.17 ratio). There are 1,105 elephants in the Eastern Ghats and 1,855 in the Western Ghats.

TAMILNADU INTEGRATED ELEPHANT CENSUS REPORT 2023: ஒருங்கிணைந்த யானைகள் கணக்கெடுப்பு – 2023: A total of 2,999 people including 1,731 field workers and 368 volunteers were engaged in this integrated elephant census in various elephant stocks. The survey was conducted in 690 blocks covering an area of 3,496 sq km.
The number of elephants in Tamil Nadu has increased due to the measures taken by the Tamil Nadu Government through the Elephant Conservation Movement.
